Lost In Translation is an interactive public installation that celebrates the linguistic diversity of Providence. Installed on the Radeke exterior facade of the RISD Museum, it consists of a series of five bilingual, Augmented Reality (AR) posters, each displaying a word whose meaning cannot be directly defined across languages. The posters, through typographic abstractions, progress between each word’s native script and its Latin characters, to express what we often lose in translation: emotions, ways of seeing the world, colors, and memories. Lost in Translation is installed on the Benefit Street exterior facade of the RISD Museum, and accessible to the public through June 6, 2021.
